Dunkirk - Nolan's Best Yet?

It could have been a silent film and still be brilliant!

Christopher Nolan's re-creation of one of the crucial moment during the Second World War, Dunkirk, is a visual masterpiece. It wouldn't surprise me if if receives numerous Oscar nominations come 2018.

Split between three timelines, it all comes together at the climax, leaving you speechless. With a good cast of actors, whom all contributed well (yes, including Harry Styles), you are intrigued from the first scene. The sound score is reminiscent of The Dark Knight (thanks to everyone's favourite modern day composer, Hans Zimmer) and visually intense, this film hits you emotionally hard.

Tom Hardy stood out for me during his timeline, though all he needed to really do was act with his eyes. You could tell exactly what he was thinking by his motions and little dialogue. It could have been a silent film and still be brilliant!

I cannot recommend this film enough! Obviously, we all know what happened there, if you don't, then that's even more of an excuse to go see it! Visually stunning, an intense sound score, minimalistic yet brilliant acting and a narrative that comes together beautifully.

10/10 for me! Possibly my best film of 2017!
